Eight Pakistan players, including the captain Shahid Afridi, were reportedly fined for breaching the team curfew in the days leading up to their Group B match against India in Adelaide.
The incident happened in Sydney, where the Pakistan team is based, approximately a week ago. The team management claimed the players were late by 45 minutes while returning from dinner with friends.
The eight players were slapped with a fine of 300 AUD each, AFP reported. Though the team spokesman declined to comment on the incident, the players were reportedly warned that a repeat offence could be the end of tournament for them.
Pakistan have won their two warm-up games – against Bangladesh and England – since. They are scheduled to play India on February 15, in Adelaide. They have lost their previous five World Cup matches against them.
